Ah, pshaw on "may not be any good." It's very, so banish that notion (this time, at least -- I do admire the who-knows humility).

Your inspired metaphoric framing adds unifying strength without getting in the way or veering into hokey. And the 1977 caption is a riveting stop-and-look-again grabber: "He looks up and catches my eye somehow, across 46 years."

Captivating elegance and universal touchstones enrich this mini-memoir, Ted. Thanks for sharing poignant reflections and insights so masterfully.

Great piece. Actually, I enjoyed the stream of consciousness approach -- relatable in the situation. Ted, you wrote an excellent article 23 yrs, ago, about Edgewood, NM, "Town Undertakes Experiment in Democracy". Well, we are planning our 25th Anniversary Celebration for July 1, 2024. A lot has changed. Interested? PLEASE msg me.

Thank you for this. My story about Edgewood remains one of my very favorite stories of my career. I was just talking about it the other day. I'm probably not in a position to do a story (though won't rule it out!) but would love to hear more about how Edgewood is doing. Please feel free to let me know your contact information.

I enjoyed reading this provocative piece though it gave me mental dyspepsia. And I'm adding the Doyle book to my holiday Wish List!

Ted, I couldn't read the the end of this through my tears. That's all I'll say now. Let's talk about this one next time we see each other.

Thank you so much, Shelley. I was very much of two minds about whether to post this one but I thought it might resonate with some people.
